Our goal is to help teach chess (like in a university), while including groups typically not represented in chess (creating diversity).

Our goal: to bring chess & chess supplies to all children/teens, especially women/girls, those in underserved communities, & those with disabilities(like the deaf and hard of hearing).

Why Chess?

Chess is a board game that people of all backgrounds can play. All you need is a board and an opponent.

Chess teaches you so many life lessons: planning, patience, resilience, goal-setting, and time management.

OUR GOAL:

TO EXPOSE KIDS/TEENS, ESPECIALLY GIRLS/WOMEN & THOSE IN UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES, TO THE BEAUTY AND WONDER OF CHESS.

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT??

TO SHARE OUR LOVE FOR THE GAME AND SPREAD IT TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE IN AREAS WHERE THEY MIGHT NOT HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO SHARE IN THE GAME.

WE WANT THEM TO DERIVE ALL THE BENEFITS FROM CHESS THAT WE HAVE.

OUR GOALS:

First, we want everyone to have their own chess set. We supply these & hope they will cherish them.

Next, we provide instruction so that they may learn this transformative game which has taught us so many things.

BACKGROUND:

We have both been very fortunate to have had excellent chess teachers over the years. However, not everyone has access to this.

Chess lessons and classes can cost hundreds of dollars per hour. We understand that many people simply cannot afford this.

We are dedicated to teaching chess to underserved populations in order to expose them to chess and all of its positive benefits.

We want to supply chess sets locally to girls/women and underserved communities in our area, providing them with their own chess set to cherish.

WE START WITH BASIC LESSONS REVIEWING THE BEGINNER ASPECTS OF CHESS AND MOVE ONTO MORE ADVANCED LEARNING WITH MORE EXPERIENCED STUDENTS.

Introducing: Chessā€™d

What is Chessā€™d?

Chessā€™d is Chess for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.

  • Why?

Deaf students/players may not have many opportunities to play chess. These opportunities including tournaments and clubs.

  • Who?

We want to help deaf students/players in our immediate area, and ultimately, help those across the nation.

  • What?

We will provide support, lessons, supplies, and tournaments. In short, we will provide opportunities for the deaf and hard of hearing to play chess.

  • Where?

We would like to start locally in New Jersey and eventually spread our efforts nationwide.

  • Why?

We want everyone, including those who are deaf and handicapped, to enjoy chess, as we do.

  • When?

We have started our efforts already, and are hoping to expand them immediately.

Chessversity Around the World

 South Africa:

  • We have donated $1000 with matching to a school in South Africa, allowing them to purchase chess equipment to start a chess club.

  • We have provided instruction to this group, teaching them chess principles and strategies.
